STAGE 5: Discovering pragmatic-semantic skills in context

 

Dates: Weeks 8-9, from __________ to _________

 

Deadline: End of Week 9.

 
Goals: Develop pragmatic-cognitive awareness and analytic skills to study the meaning of TRI’s in today’s communication  
DESCRIPTION OF TASKS:  
Step 1. Search of TRIs communicative contexts  Students search on contexts and sources (corpora, media platforms, etc.) in which the selected TRIs are currently used.  
     
Step 2. Exchange of data and discussion about TRIs analysis in today’s communication Students exchange the information found and discuss about the best options available to observe and analyse the pragmatic meaning of the TRIs in today’s society (on the three levels). The coordinator encourages all participants to share their views and the controller/s collect/s the essential information to achieve the objectives of each step and to deliver at the end the joint evaluative task.   
Step 3. Analysis of TRIs in context and summary on results Students select one or two TRIs, search for some of their contexts of use, compile a few examples and analyse their pragmatic meaning in these contexts, acknowledging the references/sources where the information comes from. They select and summarise the main results of the analysis.  
     
                   

 

Step 4. Delivery of partial results (optional) Students deliver this partial evaluative task (i.e. joint summary) to the teacher, if it is considered appropriate.
