STAGE 1: Getting started: Becoming familiar with the telecollaboration project and with the technologies

Dates: Week 1

Deadline: End of Week 1
Goals: To familiarize students with with the telecollaboration project and with the main technologies to be used.

 

Step 1. Participant information leafleft and consent form: Students will be informed about the telecollaboration project by the teacher and through the participants’ consent forms to sign and return to the teacher.

 

Step 2. Complete the pre-intervention questionnaire

 

Step 3. Students will take the English placement/diagnostic test to identify their CEFR level.

 

Step 4. Creating a Gmail account and getting to know Google+

 

Step 5. Creating a digital profile on Google +.

 

Step 6. Join the Google+ Community by clicking on the link to the dedicated community created by the teacher

 

Step 7. Thinking of ice-breaking questions: these will be posted on the Google-Community.

DESCRIPTION OF TASKS:  
  1. Students will have to complete the pre-intervention questionnaire

Suggested assessment criteria:

 

  1. Task completion
  2. Participation in the Google+Community, including number of posts, length and quality of the interactions
  3. Language and communication skills.
  4. Team work.

 

Recommended Tools:

 

  1. Gmail or any other email provider
  2. Google + or any other platform which facilitates group interaction
  3. Moodle tests which allows for generating and administering online tests.
